March 2009 Edition

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm on March 2 at The Rookery. 12 members and were present. .

Officer Reports

Secretary:

The minutes from the February meeting are posted on the website. No additions or corrections were noted by the members present.

Treasurer:

Steve provided the following financial data:

Cash in Bank - $2,656.50, Petty Cash - $45.00, Total Cash - $2,701. .

For the month, we paid telephone in the amount of $51.83, electricity $3.41, IDA membership 50.00, and contribution to the Cardinal Athletic Association 100.00.

A payment on the land contract in the amount of $800 is planned for March 2009, made up of the normal quarterly $300.00 payment plus an additional $500.00 as stipulated by a recent contribution by Joe Petrick, The current balance on the land is $2,700.00. After the March 2009 payment the balance will be $1,650.00

Observatory Director:

In Marty’s absence, Russ indicated the property is secure and seems to have come through the winter well.

Old Business:

1. The club calendar was reviewed .
   
2. A Star Party planned for March 28 2009 at Observatory Park .

New Business:

1. CVAS has been asked by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to participate in an event in April relating to their 100 hours of Astronomy program .
