The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm on April 6 at The Rookery. 11 members were present. .

Officer Reports

Secretary:

The minutes from the March meeting are posted on the website. No additions or corrections were noted by the members present.

Treasurer:

Steve provided the following financial data:

Cash in Bank - $2,253.63, Petty Cash - $52.00, Total Cash - $2,305.63. .

For the month, we paid telephone in the amount of $51.82, electricity $3.77. .

An $800 payment was made on the land contract bringing the remaining balance to $1,900.

Observatory Director:

Marty provided the following report via email:

Russ reported that the PC in the North Obs. died from an apparent motherboard failure.  He was able to put a replacement together from his parts inventory and we now have a functional PC there again.

During the March storm with the 60+ MPH winds, we lost about a half dozen shinges from the roof of the North Obs.  Russ and I replaced those last week with some of the left over shingles from the re-roofing of the main Obs.  The color match is darn close.

I replaced the old 14 inch CRT that was in the dome with a 19 inch flat panel monitor mounted to the wall.  Makes it look like there is a bunch more room in there now.

The lawn tractor battery was charged and the old machine fired right up.  There is also 2 gallons of fresh gas in the shed.  Probably time for a new set of blades for the mower deck.  Please put an approx. $50 expenditure to a vote for this. 

Everything looks good at the Hill for another season.  The drive is in good shape except for a few piles of stone the snow plow guy pushed up here and there.  Tough to get good help these days!

1. The club calendar was reviewed.

New Business:

1. CVAS has been asked by the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to participate in an event in April relating to their 100 hours of Astronomy program .
   
2. John Gorka reported on the recent Middlefield Council meeting, where he described various shielded lighting options. Also, John circulated a letter for review and signature to be sent to ODOT regarding lighting installed on Route 2.

Our next meeting is 5/2/09 at Indian Hill starting at 8:00 pm.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm. No observing this evening as a couple inches of snow fell during the meeting which led to a slippery ride home.
