Re: Super Star Party 2007

Dear Dan and Becky,

On behalf of CVAS, I extend a very grateful letter of appreciation for your support of the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society.

As expressed by the club's secretary and recorded in our September minutes, "Thank you also to the Lake County MetroParks for giving CVAS the opportunity to participate again this year."

Although celestial observing may have been dampened by the weather at this year's SSP, no one's spirit was.  CVAS members had a grand time sharing their expertise with the crowds and the public exuded continual enthusiasm for the evening's panoply of programs.  LMP staff did an exceptional job organizing all the concurrent activities and, no matter where I ventured during the course of the festivity, people's excitement was clearly visible.

We appreciate the months of hard work staff puts into organizing such a labor-intensive event. Seeing the enjoyment shared by all who attended I hope served to reaffirm staff's commitment to continue to present such an important celebration of astronomy.  There are so few venues available to the public to inspire astronomical interests and that your annual SSP typically attracts more than 500 participants demonstrates the need for and value of this great event.

Although we won't be meeting at Indian Hill until next spring, we welcome your staff to visit the first Saturday of the month, May through October, 2008, when we hold our meetings and, if it's clear out, observe afterward.  We would love to show you how your financial support was put to use as the club members just finished building a second roll-off roof observatory on the lower level that now houses two more telescopes.

Thank you for the opportunity to be mutually supportive of each other's commitment to bringing quality astronomical programs to the public.  We look forward to working together over the many years to come.

Warmest Regards,
Vickie Ford
